AFAIK, particular combinations of colors may be interpreted to be part of 
a trademark or trade dress:

For example, if someone packaged "brand x" film to resemble the trade 
dress of an established manufacturer owning trademarks,  they would likely 
hear from the aggrieved manufacturer.

I have not heard of "patenting" a particular color that can occur 
naturally, although methods of achieving a color (e.g., brighteners, 
enhancers, dye formulations) might be intellectual property that can be 
patented.
