In the eighties a major toy manufacture developed an interactive game
system for television which used different pulsing frequencies and colors
on opposing spaceships within the TV program. Viewers could "shoot" the
spaceships with a ray gun purchased from the toy manufacture. The "ray gun"
would detect a hit when the correct frequency and color was aligned when
the trigger was pulled.
The photo physiological effects were protested by foreign countries. In the
US the requirement that a toy was needed to participate in the TV program
killed the program and the product.
