Success or Failure of a session on a MK III (from my humble opinion), is
based upon the Talent of the Colorist, and the Engineer behind Him/Her.....
If the machine is a 'beater' that can't reproduce a greyscale correctly,
You are fighting a losing battle, no matter who turns the knobs. But
An Engineer that works with a colorist..... And Listens to him/her: Now That
is a winning team!
I doubt that any MK III still in operation is "Stock". That brings up a
different issue... Some Mods done to MK III's, are good, some not so good.
Proper interfacing to a Color Corrector properly can make or brake a system.
It's really un-fortunate that telecines have become 'plain-vanilla' devices,
as it takes the fun out of it these days, and the 'custom advantage' out of
a telecine !
P.S. Until the extended range went into the Spirit, it was possible to
'keep up' with the Spirit on a MK III.
