yes, and even the worry about viruses can become a virus..
To see where the mail comes from look at the Received:
headers and check the path the mail took. There are many
worms, viruses and the like that will forge headers but the
SMTP ones in the envelope can?t be forged, though spoofing
can obscure them sometimes, but there are protections
against spoofing many of which are used in the Mail Transfer
Agent (Exim) in use at colorist.org.
