I thnink what Mike was actually asking is about 'films' shot film and posted
digitally via a 1920x1080 DI workflow, rather than the usual 2K path. The
hint is in the subject line...

Along with my various clients I've been involved in a number of such
projects, including Shadow Boxer, Caesar, Exp at rt, and a 16mm film presently
going through MotionFX.

There is a fair bit of detail about HD based workflows for 'film' DI within
the Digital Praxis website - it's actually a very good way to work,
especially for 3perf shoots!

Exp at rt was an anamorphic 35mm shoot, and the final result is amazing, with
the work being done by Avion in Prague. Shadow Boxer was by Shooters Post &
Transfer in the USA, and Caesar by Cinecitta.

There are a lot of other projects I've worked on that have used this
approach, but I can't presently remember them - I'm travelling again -
hopefully not via nexpected railway stations...

Hope this helps.

Oh, and I've just finished a serious monitor calibration session at Avion,
setting their Sony HD monitor to 'film' specifications - at 14FtL, D55. For
video use I go for 24FtL, D65.
