[Tig] Why isn't HDR(-like) rendering more widespread?

Thanks to oktobor for supporting the TIG
Even with 8-bit and 10-bit origination (and storage), you would see
differences in HDR versus not HDR as my Wiki page demonstrates.
i.e. The footage comes in as 8-bit with gamma
compression/companding/correction (i.e. DV/firewire, SDI, etc.). Expand
that out by taking all the values to an exponent of ~2.2 (ignoring the whole
601/709 issue for now). Do the saturation algorithm. Put the gamma
correction back in.
A lot of programs are moving towards processing in 32-bit float anyways.
Removing and putting the gamma correction back in is just an additional
