Not true.  LCD flat panels are neutral devices, that have no  
intrinsic color temperature.  It is the backlight that determines  
color temperature.  Tri-color LED backlights can improve color gamut  
to better-than-NTSC, whereas the lower CRI of many fluorescent tubes  
can limit that gamut.

Obviously, one could hack a display and replace the backlight with,  
say, Kinoflos with a high (90+) CRI and a chosen color temperature --  
though that won't happen to consumer TVs.

Out there, it's as much of a mess as it ever was!
