Wow, Craig, Mr Crusty indeed!
I seem to remember spending a lot of time with you 're-inventing' workflow
over a bottle of white wine or two - you didn't complain then ;o)
But in truth, my post was actually a bit of a piss-take as they has not been
a lot of relevant content on the TIG for a while, so I though I'd see if I
could stir things up a bit... as is my want. But with real and valid
information.
But you do make a valid point within your acerbic comments - well, in the
second post anyway :o)
With the advent of Dual Link, HSDL, and data there are errors being made in
workflow due to the different 'valid' legal levels. And many equipment
manufacturers are not even aware of the problems... which is true of
operators too!
It would be unfair to name specific manufacturers as I've only spoken to a
handful so far, but most do not understand at first what I'm talking about -
with some not even aware there are different valid data/bit levels.
And then it does beg the question; should monitors be set to different black
(Pluge) points for Single Link and Dual Link? If you are doing
multi-deliverables (Single Link, Dual Link and data) there is a strong
argument for this.
But most creatives won't have thought about this because they are too busy
making pretty pictures.
It was just such a creative workflow that first brought this to my
attention.
Hope this helps with the explanation.
