Bob,
Ah there you have it. Below black, that's sucking light I think, not a
known physical property. As for peak white I believe I showed a scanned
negative of some Santa Barbara firemen outside their truck which demo'd
films "almost" white point. The sun reflecting off polished chrome was
still resolved with varying grain levels. If it's not on the TIG, and I
haven't looked recently, I can certainly put it on.
As for those secret codes, not only are they randomised by grain but the
"private key" changes every frame due to the redistribution of the grain.
