I believe they bought Astarte for the engineering talent more than for the 
product. I think part of the team still maintains the Toast codebase under 
contract to Roxio, which itself was sold recently to Sonic Solutions, and the other 
part is Elgato, maker of excellent HD PVR hardware/software for Mac, an 
executive of whom recently became head of Apple Europe (is that right?).

The point being that all this stuff is all happening within the Apple 
developer ecology with the consent of all parties, and is not like a Viking plunder 
raid with dead bodies lying around at the end of it. Silicon Color _hoped_ 
they'd be acquired by Apple - that was part of their business plan from the 
get-go.

New product name: "iDI" :-)
