the very latest news has it that Disney, in a partnership with  
Dreamworks, has tendered a significant offer to acquire
majority ownership in Ascent Media and Technicolor.

Needless to say, this is a consolidation that continues the trend  
toward unique ownership and a more solid direction with
regard to continued dominance of the industry by owners and Boards of  
Directors that know what is good for the post production
paradigm; these potential owners seem to have what it takes to  
provide the necessary leadership to bring the post industry to the
pinnacle of efficiency.

The results may be a winnowing of those with the higher salaries, but  
it bodes well for those who have always wanted to be
involved in the pinnacle and highest levels of post-production.  It  
is well-known that Disney, being a cost-cutter and creator
of the best involving the little guys, will make of this a grand  
success.
