Apple's Xraid is actually two independent RAID arrays that just happen
to fit in one shelf. It is possible to use software level RAID 1 to
stripe data across both sides of an Xraid, with each RAID part striped
as well. I don't know how fast OS X's software-based RAID is. A
suitable FC RAID card could help.
