Timothy,
Not sure on the Turner answer but frames can drop even for a wrapper such as
QT or AVI. Bottom line if the thruput isn't there it shows up as dropped
frame/s no matter how they are coming off the disks. To the eye it's just a
frame......
Now if you are seeing a random issue this is more likely due to a frame
missing for numerous reasons and can also appear either in the QT/AVI as
easily as it can in frame sequence (the frame sequence allows you to fix it
easier). The drop frames could also have resulted from a bad ingest but I
would think QC would pick that one right up.
If it's a thruput issue it's usually much nastier than a frame here or there.
In reality, info off the disks perform equal no matter if they are frames or
files, given the company knows what they are doing. I say this because we
have been moving frames off disks for over 6 years with huge success and are
amazed every time this comes up.
Cheers,
Ramona
