Yes, that backlight issue on dark scenes is still annoying, needs to be solved
at some point. The Cine-Tal monitors have less of this.

Sure. The nasty little secret about CRTs is that their HD resolution just
sucks. And if you increase the contrast on, say, a 32" Sony to where the white
output should be, the resolution REALLY sucks as the beam splatters all over
the tube face. Just about any LCD running 1080 native will look sharper than a
CRT of the same size.

In any case, the comparison point seems academic, since new CRT sets, pro or
consumer, are essentially no more.
