The best LCD I have seen to date remains the Sharp.  For some reason, they
only show it at CES so far but it appears to have the black problem licked,
period.  This year they showed two sizes, the biggest being 37".  They claim
a one million to one contrast ratio and while I certainly can't say by eye
whether or not that claim is true, I can say that in a completely dark room
with some very demanding material, it has the most pristine blacks I have
ever seen on any display device.  Production is slated for about this time
next year...
