Slightly OFF Topic.
Regarding changes in the graphics arts world, check out the diminishing
business of WORLD SUPPLY or other supply houses. With graphic designers,
architects and others going electronic (read: computer), they are having
a hard time of it. When oil, pastel, charcoal and similar art supplies
are replaced electronically, we will soon see the end of these venders,
unless they become electronic grahic equipment and software dealers!

The professional graphic arts field has exploded in the last Twenty
years, and it is far larger than it was before the graphic laser
printer, pagemaker, and photoshop hit the scene.
As I notice how many of my students are getting jobs in film and video
production, some before they graduate, some even working on features
right away, I note the difference from when I graduated film school 25
years ago, when it was a big deal to get a job, anything at all even as
a tape dubber.
I think we're going through the same evolution as graphic arts. The more
people who have a chance to fiddle with Color, the more learn how
important it is and want someone to do the work for real. Which is
exactly what happened with Pagemaker.
