I suppose it depends by which method you convert (you did mean convert and
not clone?) it to SD. I'm guessing that you are using the downconverted
output of a VT?
I would have expected that any SD 601 compliant output on a VT would by
definition have the correct colour space, or it wouldn't be 601 compliant?
But I haven't checked yet. Have you tried asking Sony?
If you have a legaliser you could put some appropriate test sigs through
the deck and switch it in and out to see if there is any difference.
(That was a long way of saying I don't know!)
