Ted Langdell suggested that once in a while a posting like this can
go out, which echoes the
TIG wiki 'thread compilation' sections in their various forms.
Because I don't want to get into
recursive archival redundance, I won't post the actual text of old
messages to the group, but
just refer to the link in the archives. This is similar to what
newspapers do with "100 years
ago today" ( what was the Paul McCartney line in Sgt. Pepper's? i
think 20. )
The thread from May 1995 on CRT Dust is still relevant for those
running CRT-based telecines,
and the posting I'll be compiling with others into a container for
the wiki is Kevin Shaw's at
http://www.tele.com/pipermail/oldtig-mhonarc/1994-5/msg00517.html
The TIG archives search is fine-tuned now to include selections for
long and short output
of results, and this incarnation of what I recall have been about 5
different algorithms over
the years looks like the best. The search results don't include
index drek and the gzipped
txt files that also make up the archives. Search is available at
http://tig.colorist.org/pipermail/tig/ or
http://www.colorist.org/htdig/sample/search.html
and I suggest selecting the long format output.
speaking of formatting, I need soon to figure out how, in Mac's OS X
mail client, to force
Carriage Returns-Linefeed characters at 70 columns, if anyone knows
the answer, please
advise thanks.
