[Tig] bulbs for the home

here in Brasil, the bulb of choice for the homeowner, apartment- 
dweller, etc. is a screw-in fluorescent bulb which I remember, when  
living in Burbank CA in 2002, as being one of  "the answers" to  
energy efficiency.

I don't like the spectrum emitted by these bulbs but I have a feeling  
it differs according to the manufacturer.  The whole "movement"  
towards fluorescent reminds me of the same surge toward sodium light  
for the street, which is a sad replacement for the more (for me)  
realistic mercury light.  And for the home, I admit I'm very biased  
toward the incandescent bulb.

I'm interested to hear more comments on this subject, as it has to do  
with our seeing from day-to-day.
