Hmmm
Don't get me started on that one. The UK goverment has not a clue about
what they are doing.
Measuring cars "badness" by CO2 while we are suffocating on Nitrogen
Oxides and soot is madness. Equally, encouraging the use of remotely
generated electricity to power vehicles does nothing but shift the
problem elsewhere and in reality has an environmental cost far in excess
of generating the power locally. Think of all the environmental cost of
more power stations (even if just in construction of them) and distribution
For further thought provoking check out

While the compilation of these "facts" may me open to question the
sentiment has to be right. Keep creating complex cars which need regular
parts replacement and it costs more to the environment.
However amongst other things that pose more impact than the car is the
fact that China is constructing 562 coal fired power stations over the
next eight years, india 213 and the US another 72. Just 18 of these
power stations will contribute more CO2 than ALL the current motorists
in the UK which rather makes a mockery of changing the face of motoring.
Do we have a right to criticise these constructions, well that's not for
me to say. Whatever; the car is a contributory factor, but that will
pale into insignificance with what is about to happen.
Makes you wonder?
