Funny that you should mention the IVC 9k scanners.  Total un-obtanium for a 
time back in the
mid 80's.  Bruce Graham , not sure where he is today, actually made one good 
scanner by moving a good head from one with the other head broken to another 
scanner, and with a GREAT amount of persistence was able to get the dihedral 
and tip depth back to acceptable.

The 9K in it's day was the best.  We had 6 of them at VTA (Video Tape 
Associates) in Florida.
