We did exactly that (for Video iPod) on a couple of features and on 
at least one TV pilot, with I must say, rather mixed reactions.

The assumption that a new platform must be equally superior in every 
dimension was hard to overcome: we got pretty far toward conveying 
useful metadata along with the picture and sound, and unquestionably 
the coolness of having all your dailies in your pocket was an 
attraction, but the clients inevitably got around to complaining that 
the color and contrast didn't match a CRT, or that the resolution 
wasn't high enough, or that the iPod screen itself wasn't very big!
