Reminds me of the times during the mid-late 70s' when I built a 500 watt AM
transmitter using a 4-400 Philips/Norelco (???) carbon plate final RF amp
modulated by a pair of Eimac 100TH's. Broadcasting from NNJ in the 40 meter
band (crystal controlled at 7313 KC) using a 30 foot high resonant 40 meter
coax fed dipole acting as a high angle radiator for local Tri-State
reception. The play list was Punk - New Wave from live sets I pre-recorded
at Max's Kansas City. That was some real good AM pirate radio OM's. Good
thing I didn't got caught or I'd be getting out of the can right about now.
Anyway, QSL cards were sent from an Astoria Queens ZIP with Von Lmo, Lydia
Lunch, Suicide and or James Chance pictured on the cards from pics I had
taken.
Licensed since 1959 at 12 years old as WV2NNK/WA2NNK. Now K2XL and still
operating AM on 75, 40 and 10 meters. Rigs are, Italian Geloso (10 meters),
Johnson Viking 500 (40 meters) and my favorite... Yaesu FT-990 driving an
Alpha amp (75 meters).
3's & CU on the radio,
George, KNV0993/K2XL
