It used to be just editing.
"Dude, I just made $800 cutting this industrial in my living room with my
Final Cut system, and I never had to get out of my pajamas!"
"How long did it take?"
"Like, you know, about 80 hours."
"So you and your gear are making $10 an hour?"
"Well, yeah, if you want to look at it like that. But I didn't have to leave
the house, Dude!"
Next it was effects shots. People with virtually no overhead doing match moves
and tracking shots in their mother's basement for what is, in the end, not
much more than minimum wage.
Now it's color correction.
That's the philosophy behind all the "new tools."
Products for those with a lot more time than money.
