The G-TECH technician said in no uncertain words to uncheck the power  
settings
box that enables 'the hard drive to sleep whenever possible' as I'd  
written before.
So, no,  I would not be able to use the GREEN settings on the  
Macintosh with this G_TECH product

(perhaps this product with the addition of certain third party items  
(WACOM, & SCSI CARD with NIKON SCANNER may the culprit- This is the  
catch 22 with computers as each manufacturer blames the others for  
errors.)

I'd opine that you can set up your Mac to be as green as you want,
within certain practical limits relating to some basic power
consumption while asleep.
