Well, look at the opposite concept, that of determinedly pro-level hardware 
and software - SGI. They used to have really big booths at NAB.

And while Sony might be getting the poop knocked out of them in music 
players, retail stores and stock price by Apple, Apple isn't even in a hundredth of 
the business areas Sony is in.

Kodak, sigh, Bev Pasterczyk apart, always felt to me more like a branch of 
the Federal Government, like the Post Office, more than it did a business.
