In Russian when they refer to the years of the century as "pervyie" -  
firsts it literally means "first few years" and not the decade.  
Sometimes you hear "desiatyie" - teens but it sounds a bit awkward.  
Everything after the first two decades of the century is similar to  
English - "dvadsatyie" (twenties), "tridsatye" (thirties) etc. The  
particular year is usually shortened like "Ulitsa tysiacha deviatsot  
piatova goda" (1905th Year street) is usually referred simply as "  
deviatsot piatova goda". After the first decade the hundreds are  
dropped so 1917 is "semnadsaty" (sevsnteenth) and 1941 is "sorok  
pervy" (forty first).
