Is that true for SRW-5500, too?
==========
Tapes recorded at (SQ)440 Megabits on the SRW-1 can be played back on both the 5000 and 5500.
Tapes recorded at (HQ)880 Megabits on the SRW-1 can ONLY be played back on the SRW-1 unit.
This means that the post facility MUST have a SRW-1 to playback the HQ recordings. The exception
is when the HQ recording is a "dual 4:2:2 recording" of two camera signals. Then you can select
the A or B recording during playback.
I understand there are future plans for a Recorder for post that will playback these HQ recordings.
The RGB 4:4:4 recordings are almost NEVER done at 880 megabits because of the doubled tape
costs and the fact that NO one has seen the difference even when recording for 35 mm film out
productions.
