Did you ever think to ask them?

Why is it we assume that our needs are everyone else's needs?

I remember arguing with the very nice and very knowledgeable people at
Image Transform that yes, I did want to do an NTSC to NTSC conversion on
their massive standards convertor, and yes this seemingly inane request
did accomplish exactly what I hoped for out of it. 

Or insisting in the early 80's on having an SCH meter or scope in the
bay for every edit. Why did I need that overkill? The same bays were
editing network television shows all the time and it was good enough for
them to not have SCH accuracy on edits to within a few degrees. But yes,
I needed better accuracy for my project.

We all know instantly with a glance on a tour the follies and stupidity
of everyone else's decisions. We weren't there, but our hindsight is
superior, no?
