Well, not always -- depends on what aspect ratio one is shooting.
2048 x 1107 is 2K, 1:1.85
Not a whole lot bigger than 1920 x 1080... maybe 6 percent?
But if you are shooting 1.37 (Academy), then 2K = 2048 x 1536 (give
or take a few pixels) and that's a lot better than 1080 x 1440 (OK,
that's really 1:1.33, but close enough) which is 1.33 fitted into
1920 x 1080 with pillarboxing. (Yes, sure, you can squeeze/unsqueeze
it if you really want to.)
