I'm surprised to hear that big feature animation, where every single frame is
individual and under complete control for every aspect of its appearance,
needs grading at all. 

Sure, the version going out to film is different from the one going out to
digital projection is different from the one going to DVD, but really, aren't
these just "one-light LUTs"?
