[Tig] semantics: definition vs. resolution

I tend to think of resolution as a term that emerged from analogue formats,
and objectively quoted in line pairs per millimetre etc: though it's a
flawed concept as you run into issues such as contrast very quickly. It can
be a property of as few or as many stages of image transfer as you want it
to be: so a lens has resolution, a filmstock has resolution, so does an
entire system of lens, stock, printer, projector etc. AS such, its
application in digital systems is frequently oversimplified.
Definition is a much vaguer term, less often attached to a measurable
quantity, more often simply used as "high definition".
