'Fraid it's true, Tim -- we're one of the "handful" here at the House of
Legacy Formats; there's still life left in D2 for us and we have a
somewhat extensive infrastructure to support it. The News Division does
no HD work as yet, although we have shot material on HDCam and then
dubbed it down to DigiBeta for further use; "60 Minutes" masters on
DigiBeta, "48 Hours" and some other CBS News projects use D2, and some
of our news broadcast segments even play out to air from Beta SX. Since
"Flashpoint" was done under the auspices of the "48 Hours" production
unit, D2 was part of the workflow. In addition, there are other,
non-News D2 users here: Children's Programming, some Sports Division
features and promos, and certain studio recordings; even commercials are
delivered to us on D2 (although they're then usually dubbed to servers).
