Yes - forget Bayer, forget CMOS, forget CCD

A plumbicon tube was the way to go 

A big CRT style of a capture device

Three of them - one for red, one for green and one for blue

Some cameras had four - one for red, green, blue and luminance

Align them, register them up - and off you go
