My first color cameras were four GE PE-15s.  They were basically a bad copy
of a RCA TK-40.  They used three 3" I/Os, three pieces of 71 camera cable
EACH, and a color encoder that took half a rack by itself.  They used relay
optics with gel color seperation filters and holders for ND gels to allow
you to set the knee of the each I/O to be equal to the others.  The Iris was
driven by a selsyn motor in the relay optics that also made for a great
camera call function.  Grab the iris knob and turn it real fast and the
camera made a good-awful grinding sound.  All the operators knew that if
they heard that, I needed them on camera.
