Hi Victor. This is a fascinating question, and I'll send you here
one image
shot in 1955, that should give you an idea of a particular color look
for
that decade. (the photo is private property but you're free to use it
for reference only.) The look, if I were to characterize it, seems
to remind
me of Agfa stock, and if Agfa had a slide film in that era, then it's
likely
that's what it was shot on. (the subjects are me and my sisters, on the
train from NYC to Philadelphia.)
For 1938 I'd suggest black and white, maybe with some halation in the
whites, or perhaps some slight sepia tone. Or, use color but use 16mm
film and increase contrast significantly.
1968 in France-- take a look at images from films by Claude Lelouche,
like
"A Man and A Woman."
1977 England... not sure what to suggest for this.
