ah, right. I guess we're lucky Capitol didn't bring in The Four
Freshmen to enhance the vocals. (nothing against The Four Fs)

AHDN is really a good film, photographed beautifully (Director Richard
Lester; can someone remind me who was the DoP?). Plot was subservient
quite rightly to actual music and performances, though I was always
disappointed that the performances were all lip-synced (though The
Beatles were some of the absolute best at lip-sync). I have a video
clip
of "I'm a Loser" that is live except for the instruments, including
harmonica,
and the only way you can tell there's a backing track is when one
extra note
issues forth from John's harmonica. He even laughs a lot because he
forgets
the words (which Paul notices prompting him also to laugh).
We should be glad A Hard Day's Night didn't become part of the
Turner Library
(shudder).
