No, it does not. Virtual VTR can only be controlled as a player, not as a
recorder. You can use MIDI record stop/start commands to have it "crash
record," but it cannot do what you're thinking it does - in other words, act
as a virtual VTR in record mode. Nobody I know of makes such a product for
the Mac, although on the PC side there are a number of products that do
exactly what you're asking for. Drastic Technologies' products, DVS Clipster
and Pronto, and Spectsoft's Rave HD all come to mind. Of course, none of
them can generate the DVCPro HD or Apple ProRes Quicktime files that all of
your clients are probably asking for.
Take Vinny's advice. Go to either tape or one of the PC based products and
capture to the Mac.
