[Tig] [Fwd: 720p Tape to Tape color correction]

You are right about it not denoting the field. I don't think it can.
Though the time code counts in 30fps with 2 fields, the video is
actually a complete frame at 60 fps so how's the color corrector to know
what of those 60 frames is F1 or F2? We look at the burn in to decide
and then press the F1/F2 button as needed. At times we have dubbed the
tape to 1080i, done the color correction, and then loaded the 720p
config and transferred the original tape without conversion.
HD formats...always a new discovery in usually the most inappropriate
time!

Thanks to Rob Houllhan, Cinelab for supporting the TIG.

Thank you all for your input. There really is no answer except to
convert
the tape to 1080 or go through the list and check every mark to make
sure it is
coming in on the correct field. Unfortunately, even as I jog the tape,
the
DaVinci is not denoting whether it is a field one or field two by way of
a
comma or semicolon.

The F1/F2 button on the upper right hand side does the trick as far as
changing the marks between field one and field two.
