Tig'ers,
Faster CPU's yes.
Don't forget much of this is also now possible on HP's because of the video
gamers pushing NVidea.
Graphics cards are said to do color processing 100 times faster than a CPU.When
the Hardware can have 4 graphics cards and fast enough drives,
Realtime 4K .dpx will not have to be stripped proprietary disks but
something you can get at
Best Buy.
Like a few weeks ago at a Digital Cinema Society RED demo Lucas Wilson of
Assimilate shows realtime 1/2 res playback on his laptop raw 4k .R3D files
with a Lut and a CC.
It's not all Big Iron anymore. Hardware is getting smaller. The rooms become
theaters.
4 years ago I went to almost every post house in LA working for Discreet
with the Lustre.
There were only 2 or 3 software vendors that existed.
And very few software systems in LA.
I said you have to check out these software based CC systems.
And now everyone has.
And Bob Festa at Riot was one of those guys I demo'ed.
It was great to spend time with him.
I've now done jobs on Lustre, Scratch,Speed Grade, and Baselight and all
over town.
And some in a Mobile Digital Lab and Theater.

The hardware gets much faster every 1 1/2 years.
And the software is getting better just as fast.
It is a interesting time.
Software CC in 4 years has gone from non-existant to now being a standard
service in some form in almost every facility in the world.
