http://www.inciweb.org/ has a running list of incidents.
So does CAL Fire's webpage:
http://www.fire.ca.gov/
And San Diego County has a page up about what's going on:
http://www.sdcountyemergency.com/
Some of the LA and San Diego TV stations have live streaming video...
sometimes.
LA commercial stations (in analog channel order):
http://www.cbs2.com
http://www.knbc.com
http://ktla.trb.com/
http://www.abclocal.go.com/kabc
http://www.myfoxla.com/myfox/
San Diego commercial stations (in analog channel order):
http://www.fox6.com/ (from across the border in Tijuana) has a
"live" link that may or may not be "on" or "live."
http://www.cbs8.com/ and co-owned KFMB, 760 AM http://www.
760kfmb.com/ which has live streaming audio
http://www.10news.com/index.html seems to be doing live coverage on
its website as I write this (7:34P California time)
http://www.nbcsandiego.com/index.html
NBC owned KNSD's live video link seems to be from co-ownedNBC sister
KNBC in LA. and after the 6:30pm KNBC news ends, this feed is usually
NOT live. As I write this, it's showing daytime video from this
morning.)
http://www.mytv13.com/ is XHDTV from across the border, analog
channel 49. No broadcast news.
http://www.kusi.com/ appears to be doing live coverage on its website
as I write this.
http://sandiegocw.trb.com/ has a prime time news and seems to have
clips from LA sister KTLA.
KPBS-FM, http://www.kpbs.org/ the public radio station in San Diego
has been wall to wall... even though it's transmitter site was
overrun by fire an knocked off the air.
Commercial alternative rock station KBZT (B94/9) offered its airtime,
and KPBS-FM was back on the air.
KPBS-FM has on-line coverage at
http://www.kpbs.org/media/assets/kpbs-fm.asx
Here's a couple of comprehensive media lists for San Diego (although
some of the listings don't reflect the demise of WB and UPN).
http://christophercarmichael.net/staticpages/index.php/radiodial
and
http://www.mondotimes.com/1/world/us/5/315
And for the "big picture" take a look at the NASA webpage about the
fires:
http://www.nasa.gov/vision/earth/lookingatearth/
socal_wildfires_oct07.html
If you scroll down to the Oct. 23 update, there's a link to audio
clips that explain the Santa Ana winds and La Nina... and how they're
related.
I think I'll quit now...
