Please read the below. A demo NOT to be missed.
I have no affiliation with this company but their technology is
very impressive. Is their a business model for this??-- you decide.
Regards, Bill Hogan
Many of you remember the Super Dimension 70 demonstration at the Harmony
Gold theatre in Hollywood a few years back. If you missed it, or would like to see
it again, it is coming back, along with some other footage of interest.
As most of you know, SDS-70 is 5-perf 65mm origination, 70mm projection,
at 48 frames per second, at 30 foot-lamberts, using a projector designed
for steadiness and holding focus. This is an especially good
opportunity for any who have never seen 65/70 (bring them!); it provides
the benchmark for image quality. People who are familiar with 65/70 but
who have not seen SDS-70 or Showscan will also be interested to see what
happens at 48 fps, not only for the motion rendering, but for the
greater brightness and color which can be achieved at a 96 Hz blade
rate.
Following that presentation will be a number of clips illustrating
digital projection at 2k/48 fps, from various 65mm and 35mm, 24 fps and
48 fps sources. I have not seen most of this footage but I have seen
the 2k/48 transfer of the 65mm/48 fps material -- very interesting.
These 2k, 48 fps acquisition, transfer, and conversion processes, called
DMX, are the focus of the rest of the presentation program.
The full program will be shown on
Saturday, Oct 27 at 1 pm in the afternoon.
DETAILS BELOW. The venue is the National Theatre in Westwood Village, which is a fine
showcase.

Lorr Kramer of DTS writes:
Sadly, these will probably be the last shows at the National Theatre,
since the building is expected to be demolished soon. If you are
interested in this last matter, please contact me.

DMX™ Process Features:
DMX™ is a patented and trademarked digital dimensional process for shooting,
post-producing and exhibiting feature films.
DMX™ technology is based on 48-frame imaging and display methods that create the illusion
that the picture on the screen has depth without the need for special glasses.
The DMX™ format is backward compatible to conventional 24-frame wide distribution.
Standard 35mm film is used in production with camera loads allowing for eleven minutes of
shooting time before reloading. Using a unique camera configuration, efficient and cost
effective shooting in DMX™ is comparable to standard production methods.
Conventional 24-frame feature films can be up-scaled to DMX™ 48-frame exhibition
significantly improving spatial and temporal resolution of the on screen image definition.
DMX™ 4K DI post production work flow provides for maximum image quality.
Digital Cinema 2K projectors are used altered by a DMX™ - DLP program to facilitate the
dimensional presentation with increased brightness of 24-ft. lamberts, and 2K Plus resolution.
Screen sizes of 45 - 50 feet, floor to ceiling are recommended accompanied by
uncompressed 5.1 digital sound which is standard for DMX ™ Super Digital Theaters.
DMX Corporation invites you to the industry presentation
introducing the new DMX™ dimensional process.
A comprehensive demonstration of the digital DMX™ technology and large format SDS-70™ will
be shown at the National Theatre in Westwood Village California on its huge 60-foot wide
screen.
National Theatre
10925 lindbrook Drive
Westwood, CA.
SATURDAY -- October 27, 2007 1:00pm
No RSVP Required – Please Invite A Guest. This Will Be A 90 minute Presentation.
DMX ™ Dimensional Movie Experience
DMX Corp. in collaboration with Super Vista Corp. has developed a digital cinema
technology process that elevates the movie going experience to a level never before
thought possible. Digital images with such depth and clarity, the audience feels as though
they are in the movie without the need for special glasses. This proprietary patented
technology incorporates methods in production, DI post-production and exhibition, with
backward compatibility to all current film distribution platforms, including home
entertainment.
The process known as DMX™, “Dimensional Movie Experience” is a 2K DCI compliant 48-frame
technology that creates a 4K “look” without any hardware alterations. Existing multiplex
digital cinema installations including the in place theater screens do not have to be
changed, making it “ready to go” for the thousands of large screen theaters now equipped
for 2K digital exhibition. When using the company’s proprietary software loaded into the
digital projector and server the image on the screen is startling. It replicates the value
added difference in movie entertainment comparable to what 70mm had achieved over
conventional 35mm when introduced in the late 50’s thru the 80’s. Conventional 24-frame
35mm prints can be made for theaters not yet equipped for digital projection.
The DMX™ technology uses standard 35mm film in production without any additional cost in
film stock or processing. Proprietary modified Panavision™ or Arriflex™ studio cameras are
used during production without any changes in operating features or flexibility of the
camera. CGI effects can be used with stunning results as well as the integration of large
format photography for maximum visual definition. Existing studio film assets can also be
repurposed for DMX™ exhibition with a dimentionalized effect. This will provide “renewed
life” for older film titles creating a new revenue stream for both the studios and
exhibitors. Home entertainment formats such as DVD, HD DVD and Blu-ray all benefit in the
DMX™ process and have a value added look. The DMX™ digital super cinema brand will be the
new name in movie entertainment, recognized for the immersive “only in movie theaters”
experience.
