I'd like to seize the moment to post a rare (for me) compliment.

Mark Cuban has spent a LOT of personal money to do some outstanding things on
the HDNet and HDNet Movies channels.

For the $5 extra a month I'm paying Time Warner for the "HD tier", I watch his
two channels more than all the other extra HD ones combined.

In the past 18 months, they've shown a lot of outstanding films, all
commercial free, some transferred and graded just for the channel, all in
their original aspect ratio. West Side Story, A Lion In Winter, Apocalypse
Now, Blade Runner, all beautifully shown on the HDNet Movies channel, and a
lot of interesting original content on the other channel as well, including
some reporting by Dan Rather on important issues facing us all which are being
totally ignored by the mainstream media.

Cuban can seem crazy at times, and it's kind of obvious from public interviews
he's given that he's got a MAJOR ego and is not easy to get along with, but
there's no question he's committed to bringing higher end HD content to the
masses.

Even if his interest is mostly financial, we all seem to benefit anyway. How
often does that happen?
