[Tig] color in microscopy

Current science news has included articles with accompanying images at  
the tiniest scales.  I wondered if these striking images were color- 
enhanced, or to put it another way, how accurate in color rendition  
are Scanning Tunneling Microscopes.

I've done some searching and not found any references on the net on  
the color accuracy of these images.

But I did find notes on some research of
nanoscale fluorescence imaging at super-resolution, using STORM and
