In the tradition of Monty Python: "And Now for Something Totally
Different!"
Since tomorrow is already happening for some parts of the world,
thought I'd wish everyone a happy LEAP DAY, Feb. 29.
Hope this calendar adjustment doesn't throw you off.
If so, you may be able to make up for it on the first Monday after
Daylight Saving Time kicks in here in the US.
That'd be March 10, National Napping Day, something you might want to
build into your Telecine/DI schedule for the day.
Plan now to nap after a reel change, especially if it's a 2000
footer. You can explain that it's intended to avoid cinch marks,
wrinkles and grumpy colorists, any of which can be bad for business.
Daylight Saving Time (no "s" at the end of Saving) is NOT observed in
Hawaii, American Samoa, Guam, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, the
Commonwealth of Northern Mariana Islands, and Arizona, except within
the Navajo Nation, which spans three states.
The lack of DST won't change the fact that it is National Napping
Day, so arrange an office-wide snooze.
In the EU, "Summertime" begins at 1 a.m. on March 30 and ends at 1
a.m. on Oct. 26, so you may chose to observe what you could call "EU
Nap Day" on Monday, March 31.
If the links to National Napping Day and Daylight Savings Time didn't
survive the trip to the list, click here:
http://webexhibits.org/daylightsaving/index.html which is worth
clicking through the pages for the factoids and trivia... such as
what time is it in Nepal or in another African country, neither of
which keeps its minutes the same as most of the rest of the world.
Wondering when Daylight Saving Time starts in different regions of
the world:
