This is true. The 144Hz rate acts like a 3-blade shutter on a 35mm
projector running at 24 Frames per second. 

However it is not possible with a DLP projector to obtain a full
resolution image of 2048 X 1080 at this high refresh rate and so the
quality of the projected image is slightly compromised in terms of
resolution and brightness. I think that the resolution of a cinema
projector at 144HZ is something like 1600 X 864. 

Does anybody know if a 3d movie is also mastered at this lower
resolution?
