[Tig] Judging wave form or histogram while doing color correction

Hi, 

Since I am colorist trainee, I had been trained in telecine for some time and than later I have moved to DI. I would like to know how to judge wave form or histo gram in DI. Since the input is digitally scanned from sprit 2k. The wave form is not even as like telecine.  Some body  can explain me  how  to maintain blacks and whites in DI via waveform.
