Hi Rob
With reference to the 'Kinescope' process, as far as I know, in the UK
broadcast industry we have always known the process of filming a CRT (and
directly recording the audio) as 'Telerecording' or Tele-recording' (I bet
you could also call it Telly recording, as TV is affectionately known as
'the telly' in the UK).
I had never seen it referred to as Kinescope, but then I guess I am somewhat
parochial.
I also feel duty bound to ask whether the 'canister' (note one n not 2)
should have been referred to as a 'can'? I have never heard the container
used for roll(s) of cine film referred to as anything other than a 'can'
(Of course 35mm still camera film is oft referred to as being supplied in a
canister, which is an accepted use of the word.)
I hope the unopened 'cannisters' have been processed!
regards, pedantically and parochially (and unintentionally alliteratively)
