Hello All
I'd like to answer a couple of questions raised here in the last couple
of days.
The new daVinci Impresario panels were designed to be an evolution from
the existing panels, offering enhancements to speed up operation and
improve esthetics . The existing panels have obviously been around for a
while, are well used, and seem to provide a good ergonomic solution. In
designing the new panels, we looked carefully at the way people work,
and took into account the long hours spent using the panels, and decided
to keep the traditional arrangement which maintains the joyballs in the
most natural position. To place a tablet in front forces the joyballs
back into an unnatural position which extends the shoulders and
contributes to fatigue unnecessarily. To address the need for a tablet,
Impresario supports multiple interface devices including the tablet of
your choice via USB. Since Impresario is more compact, a mouse or
tablet will be approximately six inches closer than it would be with the
existing panels.
The soft keys and pots are now placed directly on the LCD displays,
increased in number from 5 soft keys and 12 soft knobs to 28 soft keys
and 32 soft knobs.
I hope this answers the questions.
I am employed by daVinci as product manager for Resolve, Splice, 2K, and
Impresario.
Cheers!
Jim
