Taking the RED camera and post-production trends into consideration,  
would not an eventual result be something like this:

1) put camera - 16k+ resolution, multi-ISO, huge dynamic range on  
tripod, to cover all possible action in a super-wide shot.

2) don't bother to light the shot, it can all be done later with masks  
and mattes.

3) don't move the camera, because all tilts, zooms, dollies, and pans,  
can be done in post.

4) don't even bother to stop the recording, storage is cheap.   Record  
all day.  All can be cut in post.

Given a few years, is this what we'll eventually have- which I hereby  
name The Watching Machine?
